Short Construction on Target for Record Breaking Year
The firm has just passed the halfway point of its financial year with ten live projects across the North West and a strong pipeline of opportunities for the remainder of 2026. It is on track to achieve its £25 million turnover target this year, supporting the longer-term ambition to grow annual turnover to £40 million by 2030.
Under the leadership of Adrian Short and his senior management team of Charlotte Phillips, Ben Donafee, Daniel Van Den Bos and Lesley Short, the firm has continued to secure a high level of repeat business from established clients. This includes Overbanks in Stockport town centre for developer Britannia Group, two live projects for Cube Homes, and a fourth project with Kids Planet Nursery Group. Alongside this, the business has attracted new clients across a diverse portfolio spanning commercial and residential developments through to private home commissions.
“Market conditions made the first half of the year challenging, so we are particularly pleased to be on target for the current financial year,” commented MD Adrian Short. “Converting enquiries into live projects is certainly taking longer, but it is encouraging to see regional developers continuing to invest and demonstrate confidence in the North West.
“We have yet to see the ‘Andy Burnham effect’ translate into our pipeline, but the additional attention the North West is attracting can only be positive for the region. The housing market here has been outperforming southern regions for some time, and businesses such as Kids Planet show that there is also real strength across the wider commercial market. Our focus now is on maintaining that momentum through proactive business development as we continue working towards our 2030 target.”
Alongside meeting its half year ambitions, Short Construction has also successfully completed a charitable challenge this year. Raising over £15,000 for Stockport charity Autisk, four team members including Adrian Short embarked on The Not So Short Walk, a five-day, 184km trek from the company’s head office in Cheadle all the way to the base of Snowdon.
The walk saw the team traverse Greater Manchester, Cheshire and North Wales, before completing the challenge alongside friends, family and colleagues with a 3,199-foot ascent to the summit of Snowdon.
