Healthcare Project

Knot House – Liverpool

Specialist Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre

Knot House in Ellesmere Port is a purpose-built residential facility designed to support individuals recovering from brain injuries.

Developed in partnership with Voyage Care Ltd, the project delivered 28 additional beds for individuals with brain injuries. This was delivered via the construction of two new buildings including full internal fit-out, service installations, hard and soft landscaping plus adoptable footpaths and road infrastructure works.

Now complete and operational, the centre provides a therapeutic, safe and accessible environment tailored to the needs of its residents.

As the client’s Project Manager for Voyage Care, I worked closely with the main contractor throughout the delivery of two specialist brain injury rehabilitation centres, with a combined project value of £6.15m. From appointment through to completion, the contractor demonstrated a consistently high standard of professionalism, quality, and collaboration.
Delivering healthcare facilities of this nature requires more than technical competence alone. The contractor showed a clear understanding of the needs of both the client and end users, engaging constructively with all stakeholders and responding positively to feedback at every stage. Their approach was notably client-focused, with clear communication, transparency in decision-making, and a genuine commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for Voyage Care.
The quality of the finished facilities reflects the care and attention applied throughout the construction process. Design intent was respected, workmanship standards were high, and challenges were addressed collaboratively rather than defensively. This fostered a positive project environment and a strong working relationship built on trust. In my experience, the contractor set themselves apart through their teamwork, openness, and ability to balance programme, quality, and client priorities effectively.
